Purchasing Manager (Roofing)

Nipomo, CA
$85,000 - $110,000
Position: Purchasing Manager (Roofing)
Location: Nipomo, CA
Salary: $85,000 –$110,000
Benefits: Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance, 401(k), PTO & Sick Pay

The opportunity:
Take complete ownership of inventory and purchasing for one of the Central Coast’s most established roofing contractors.

With more than 40 years of success, a trusted regional reputation and new private-equity investment, the company is entering an ambitious period of expansion across California.

To support that growth, they are looking for an experienced Inventory and Purchasing Manager who can build greater control, visibility and consistency across four operating locations.

This isn’t a position where you’ll simply raise purchase orders. You’ll be given the autonomy to rebuild an important operational function, introduce effective systems and directly influence material costs, project efficiency and profitability.

What’s in it for you:
You’ll become the dedicated owner of a function that is critical to the company’s continued growth.

Alongside a competitive base salary, you’ll receive:

  • Full ownership of inventory and purchasing processes
  • Direct access to senior operational leadership
  • The freedom to introduce new systems and working practices
  • The opportunity to rebuild and improve a multi-location function
  • The backing of a financially secure, private-equity-supported business
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • 401(k), PTO and paid sick leave
  • Long-term progression into broader supply chain and operational leadership

The role:
Based primarily in Nipomo, you’ll take responsibility for inventory and purchasing across four-yard locations, with approximately 25% travel to other company facilities.

Your initial priority will be creating complete visibility of what stock is available, where it is located and how it is being used. From there, you’ll establish processes that reduce unnecessary purchasing, improve yard organization and ensure materials and tools are properly controlled.

You will:
  • Own inventory management across four operating locations
  • Implement accurate cataloguing, tagging and categorization systems
  • Establish reliable cycle-counting procedures
  • Create clear visibility of stock held at every location
  • Ensure existing inventory is used before additional materials are purchased
  • Manage tool inventory, issuance, returns and replacement controls
  • Support purchasing and vendor negotiations
  • Assist with material pricing for commercial roofing projects
  • Improve yard organization and material flow
  • Support an accurate month-end inventory close
  • Produce clear inventory reports for senior leadership
  • Travel between locations to maintain consistent standards
  • Work closely with operations, production and project teams

What you’ll bring:
You’ll be highly organized, methodical and confident taking independent ownership of a multi-location inventory function. Direct roofing experience is preferred but not essential. Candidates from construction, building materials, distribution, manufacturing or other inventory-heavy industries will also be considered.

You will ideally offer:
  • Proven inventory management or purchasing experience
  • Experience controlling inventory across multiple locations
  • Strong knowledge of cataloguing, tagging and cycle counting
  • Experience managing tools, materials and physical yard stock
  • Strong reporting and month-end reconciliation skills
  • Knowledge of roofing materials would be highly advantageous, while experience using ServiceTitan would be a major plus.
