Traveling Superintendent – Commercial Roofing

Brooklyn Park, MN

$115,000 – $125,000

Travel Isn't the Problem. Travelling for Average Money Is.

You'd run single-ply across Minnesota, and take the large projects in western North Dakota when they land.

Per diem and lodging are covered on every extended assignment. The base stays in your pocket.

Foremen, in-house crews, and subcontractors report to you. You set the production goals and schedule the manpower.

Full single-ply scope — EPDM fully adhered, ballasted and mechanically fastened, plus TPO and PVC. Tear-off, recover, new construction, repair.

You get a company vehicle, full medical, dental and vision, 401(k), PTO and paid holidays.

What You Get

  • Company vehicle
  • Per diem and lodging covered for extended North Dakota assignments
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • PTO plus paid holidays
  • Direct authority over foremen, in-house crews, and subcontractors
  • Estimating and take-off exposure alongside the field work

Opportunity Overview

This is a full-service commercial roofing contractor with decades of trading history behind it, working direct with building owners, property managers, and general contractors across Minnesota and into North Dakota. Crews are self-performed in-house, supplemented with subcontractors on the bigger scopes, which means the work is controlled rather than farmed out.

The work itself spans new construction, reroofing — both recover and tear-off — repair, and service. Single-ply is the technical base: EPDM in fully adhered, ballasted, and mechanically fastened applications, alongside TPO and PVC, with modified bitumen, BUR, metal, and coatings across the wider portfolio. Safety runs to OSHA standards under a company AWAIR program, with daily audits and pre-task planning built into the routine rather than bolted on.

The year has a rhythm. Crews mobilize in late summer and run until the weather shuts the roof down, then return in spring to finish the remaining scope, with metal work carrying on through the winter on a reduced crew. Field leadership works alongside Project Managers throughout on scheduling, change orders, and closeout.

Your Role

  • Own day-to-day field operations across new construction, reroof, and repair projects in Minnesota and on extended North Dakota assignments
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise foremen, in-house crews, and subcontractors
  • Set production goals, schedule manpower and equipment, and control labor cost
  • Own the safety standard on every site — daily audits, toolbox talks, pre-task planning
  • Verify installation quality on seams, flashings, terminations, and tapered insulation, and run destructive testing
  • Coordinate final manufacturer inspections and punch lists
  • Support estimating and take-offs as required

Key Requirements

  • 5+ years in commercial roofing, with 2–3 years as a Superintendent or Foreman
  • Hands-on expertise across EPDM, TPO, and PVC, including fully adhered, ballasted, and mechanically fastened systems
  • Able to read blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings, and verify work in the field
  • OSHA 10/30, or able to obtain quickly, and a valid driver's license with a clean record
  • Willing to travel and stay for extended periods in North Dakota on major projects
